Eating on Picton's waterfront

London Quay and the bottom of Wellington Street face the marina and the head of the sound. This is where most of Picton's eating happens, morning to night.

London Quay

The quay runs along the foreshore with the marina across the road. Daytime, it is cafés: Seabreeze (seafood-leaning, 6am opener) and Toastie Lords. Evenings, Le Café Picton does Continental dining with live music, and Cortado on the High Street corner described a seafood and tapas menu on its own site — which has since gone offline, so confirm before you go.

The Wellington Street corner

Where the quay turns into Wellington Street, Oxley's Bar & Kitchen serves Kiwi classics from a kitchen that runs midday to 8:30pm daily. A little further up, Escape to Picton is a boutique hotel whose restaurant and wine bar open to non-guests for dinner, Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm.

A note on the view

Every place here describes itself as waterfront, and it is true in the plain sense: the water is across the road. Whether a particular table has a view is a question for the venue.

Everything here comes from the venues' own published details, checked 5 September 2026. Hours and status on the cards below are live.
